Logan Square is an urban community 5 miles northwest of Chicago with a lot of history, artists, and musicians. You will find in the center of Logan Boulevard the Illinois Centennial Monument that was installed in 1918. This monument celebrates the 100th anniversary of the State of Illinois. Further down you will find a prehistoric theater of all times that opened in 1915 and is still running current favorite movies. Down the street you will come across many little shops, cafes, and restaurants with live entertainment along with the city look of old architect designed buildings from the early 1900’s. Along the way you will also see morals of art work shown off of what the community is made up of.
According to the demographics with Niche, Logan Square has a current population of 59,034 with 45% being hispanics, a bit of a decline has set numbers to what it is today compared to the 1980s-2000. In the 1980’s a rush of Latino immigrants migrated from Puerto Rico, Cuba, South America, Central America and some from Mexico. They took part of this community where you would find Cuban coffee shops, Puerto Rican Cafeterias, Mexican bakeries and a variety of other restaurants. Many who migrated found their niche in Logan Square. By 1990, Logan Square was found to have the largest population of Puerto Rican, Cuban, Mexican and South and Central-Americans in Chicago.
In Logan Square you will find many great latino restaurants such as Jibaritos y mas, Chicago’s famous Puerto Rican-inspired sandwiches to Taqueria Chingon where you can stop to eat some Mexican tacos or Dos Urban where you have a variety of Mexican foods to choose from. You can also stop to try some unique flavors at Estereo where you will find Latin American and Caribbean-inspired drinks. You will also find Mi Tocaya Antojería, an authentic restaurant serving the best plates of Mexico along with many other Greek, Indian and American restaurants. For something sweet you will find Pan Artesanal showcasing the beautiful and refined pastries of Mexico along with La Boulangerie & Co Logan who specialize in the taste of French pastries and bread.
