Between the 1910’s and 1920’s a high population of native people from Mexico migrated north to Aurora as they fled the living conditions that hindered many people along with the Mexican Revolution that took place. Since this era the population has only increased each year. The people have brought their roots and have shared their traditions, culture, and foods to what they now call Aurora, their hometown. Aurora is known as the “City of Lights'' as it was the first city to illuminate their streets with electric lights. The city is made up of residential and manufacturing areas along with shopping malls, such as; Westfield shoppingtown at Fox Valley and Chicago Premium Outlets.The downtown of Aurora is now made up of a diverse community that shares the different foods and culture from restaurants, shops, farmers market, museums, casino and festivity events.
